Winner - Bernadette Conteh Barrat

Bernadette Conteh Barrat was born on the 13th of December, 1990. She attended the St. Anns Primary School, did her secondary schooling at the St. Joseph’s Secondary School (Convent), and later furthered her tertiary education at COMAHS, Faculty of Nursing, where she graduated as a State Registered Nurse. Before her work started at the Mariestopes Sierra Leone as an Outreach Lead for the whole of Bombali, she was a volunteer at the Connaught Teaching hospital for 2 years. Between her busy schedules, she still makes time for motivational talks, health tasks and personal hygiene talks to adolescent girls in Bombali District, who have little or no knowledge on how to take care of themselves, health wise.

She is tasked with providing Free Family Planning Services to young girls and women in ‘hard to reach’ communities, on behalf of her Organization which is MSSL.  She covers the whole of Bombali District and goes as far as Tambaraka, Fitonia (boundaries between Sierra Leone and Guinea). She is passionate about helping people and hopes to continuously serve her country.
