Winner - Alex Bayoh

Alex Bayoh is a dedicated and hard working man, who studied medicine at the college of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, where he decided to major in Pharmaceuticals. He then understood the concept of preventive health care. He noticed that he can save more lives by preventing diseases than waiting to provide cure to a diseased person. When the Ebola virus broke out in 2015, he embarked on conducting campaigns, raising awareness, and educating communities on the mode of transmission, signs and symptoms and preventive strategies for EVD. He distributed needed drugs to most districts and peripheral health units in Sierra Leone.

He worked for the WHO, as disease surveillance officer (DSO0 in charge of Brookfields and Temgbe town communities. He later found himself supporting the first Sierra Leone trial to introduce vaccine against Ebola where he served as an enroller.

Today, he works for ICAP at Columbia University as a Quality Improvement Expert, providing Technical support to Ministry of Health (MOHS) through the National Aids Control program (NACP). Alex believes in innovative and complementary health care delivery to improve quality of life.
